This is in continuation to my effort for improving the cleanliness and hygienic condition of midday meal kitchen. Option (1)The midday meal preparation should be out sourced to Corporate House ,Five Star Hotels and affluent people with Philanthropic interest as a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility activity.Option (2) Voluntary organisations should be encouraged to take up this responsibility and allowed to set up a Clean, Hygienic infrastructure for kitchen in PPP mode.

Flooring is in bad shape so however much you clean it, it is going to look bad. Also roofing is made of asbestos and it emits a lot of heat. roofings can be upgraded to concrete. The place needs to be airy and spacious, for the women to work. Moreover sinks can be built in work area so that women helpers can wash vessels without much problem.A separate place for stock should be there which can house rice bags, vegetables etc., that should be totally devoid of rats and rodents.

I visited quite a few kitchens in and around Trichy city, in Tamil Nadu.Cooking conditions are appaling in the sense that the cooking stove need a complete change over. We can think of Bio gas facilities or some other ideas because these old style stoves are totallu obselete and unhealthy practice too. Also Water taps are nowhere to be seen. The helpers have to bring a minimum of 10 pots of water for cooking and washing purposes. If water supply is ensured it definitely will increase cleanliness.
