My suggestions are-We should encourage the development of recycling industry .It helps reduce landfills. Will give regular employment to millions..Bring efficiency, mechanisation.Use technology. It will bring safety ,dignity to menial jobs. Encourage research for ecofriendly cleaning materials. Make sanitation integral part of office work , school learning. Make rural biogas plants construction part of asset creation in MNREGA..To learn to respect the safai karmacharis for the work they do.

Cleanliness campaign should triangulate with economic, social responsibility & environmental aspects. A classic success story in Indian context is Amul (though not directly related to this subject). 3R reduce reuse recycle should be campaign motto for public. Corporates should start with internal guidelines for carbon foot print & targets. Not to forget the jobs created in the whole process. Glad to see govt putting online monitoring of factories effluent discharge into Ganga.

Dear All, this forum is for all of us to share views and contribute. I agree to good ideas like putting more bins, regular emptying of bins, punishments, regulations..all required. But what are we going to do with rubbish? filling more landfill sites? Cleanliness a holistic solution. it has to be self sustainable, Not only a municipality service delivery or a people mind set issue. Sustainability has shared advantages & benefits. It applies across full value chain. Continued....

I stay in kampala Uganda and it is considered poor country. But, the local council for a start invited private companies to collect garbage from each household at a small fee per day (0.1$ per pickup) when the truck reaches dump yard govt pays per tonne basis to company. This made lot of companies started collecting garbage and in three years it is now competitive business. Slowly govt is reducing payment and people are paying for it. We need to start this for free at first and slowly charge.

There is a big opportunity to create new jobs and keep our country clean. Every plastic, metal, paper & glass on road can be recycled & reused. Indian packaging sector estimated to touch $30bil in a decade. Encourage recycling sector and entrepreneurs will increase grass root employment & saves natural resources & keeps our country cleaner. A celebrity campaign on national channels can start awareness. Then local recycling entrepreneurs need to sustain it.

Attached are the reasons for clean Australia. It is a combined effort. Cleanliness comes at a cost. Both government and public has to genuinely follow their responsibilities. I wish India to get to that stage as quickly as possible. Jai Hind.

1. Community urinals to be present in chaurahs or crossings. Also, any type of business complex should provide a clean community urinal. 2. Food vendors should provide polythenes or paper bags to dispose the food, once eaten. Dustbin on trains and at community places. 3. Colleges and schools + NGOs on cleanliness drive. College credit points associated with community work. 4. For minor violation of law, community work can be applied to clean the area for a week or month.
