While appreciating the efforts of Tamilnadu Government in Kovalam - Mahabalipuram reservoir project we should understand that we need to do a lot to fulfill the water demand of increasing population in this area. The expected population growth of this area will be double the population of today's Chennai city. Hence we need to have more such reservoirs in this area. Similarly to fulfill the water demand of growing population in the north Chennai expansion areas, we need to explore the possibility of having a new reservoir by clubbing Chinnampedu Siruvapuri lake and Arani lake. The farm land area between these two lakes needs to be acquired for the lake expansion to increase reservoir capacity. If these projects are implemented the entire Chennai will get drinking water.
