Coimbatore needs an International cricket stadium which is already on the cards for several years. It will improve the entertainment resource for the people living in the city. Development authority should be formed for the Coimbatore city to improve the developmental projects across Coimbatore.

Bring more green space to Coimbatore. Promote IT parks and MSME's as Coimbatore is an engineering city. Metro service is an urgent need for Coimbatore city. Lakes should be preserved by preventing sewage water getting mixed with the lake. Improve green space around lakes. Entertainment facilities like parks, zoo should be developed. Go Coimbatore Be smart.

This is one idea for the IT led-service:
The live traffic data from google can be used to display traffic info on LED boards at important road junctions across the city. The commuters can make decisions to take alternate roads if they are able to forsee the traffic jams on their way and reduce build up of jam.
The following information needs to be displayed.
1) How long has the traffic jam been there at a particular junction.
2) Expected time to clear.
3) Alternate routes to skip it.

Number of people skipping traffic signals and other violations are high in coimbatore, to reduce this,
1) All the traffic signals should be renovated and maintained properly and high definition 360 degree cameras be added.
2) The signals should be manageable from remote control centre.
3) The police and RTO should tie up, to send traffic offence notices to offenders to pay fines based on the evidences recorded in the camera.

The city being home to 2 million+ and still growing is struggling to manage its road traffic due to the age old infrastructure in the core city areas. The oncoming vehicles from other places like kerala, salem bound to nilgiris are forced to go through the city, adding oil to the raging traffic fires.
The solution for this is already in papers and all we want is a four lane ring road connecting the palakkad road with MTP road ASAP, this will drastically reduce the traffic in the core city area.

Main problems for Coimbatore like cities are the mindset of the rulers in Chennai. They are always thinking that Tamilnadu is chennai and all other parts are something...
No proposal for Metro trains..No Zoo..No cultural centers. Only cinemas and Malls for time pass. Political mindset should change. I think Mayors and MLA'S are not in a position for submitting proposals.Even a new bus rout need Ministers permission! Shame on administrative part.

Coimbatore is a city of Engineering. .but it lacks Engineers visit on development works.
Eg:Gandhipuram over bridge. Every project is delayed and commencing on the last minute. Mayor told us Goundampalayam-Ramakrishna puram bypass will be widened before Gandhipuram work. But after one year all traffic is Been diverted through this narrow old road. Sathy-Mettupalayam Main buses are running through this road hence causes huge traffic problems there.Avarampalayam rly gate and Rethinpuri gates ...

Coimbatore is a city of lakes. We have 7 lakes within the city. The lakes should be rejuvenated. All the lakes should be connected by elevated skywalks. This will run approximately to a distance of 20 km.. This sky walk can be used by cyclists and for walking. It will be the only kind in this country. Will attract tourists and become engine of economic growth.
