Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has been selected through a competitive process for SMART City Mission initiative of Government of India. In the next phase, Coimbatore city has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities which will be taken up for the first round of funding, for the financial year 2015-16.

Citizens and stakeholders of Coimbatore are requested to post their views and suggestions on how to make Coimbatore a Smart one. The citizens may organize their thoughts on the following topics

1. What should be the Vision of the Coimbatore
2. Strengths, areas of improvement & solutions across the following sectors

a. City Spatial Structure, Transportation and Green Spaces
b. Energy, Water, Waste Water and Environment
c. Housing, Health, Education, Security, Law and Order
d. Citizen Engagement, Smart Solutions and IT-led service delivery

Before giving contract approval for roads,drainage,footpaths, it should be evaluated and quality conditions should be set along with the AMC contract to ensure quality job. Roads needs to be evaluated for long term and not short-term.

Upgrade the North Coimbatore Junction, so that it can be used, which would result in the decongestant of the Existing Railway Station.

When the people approach for the sanction of new layouts for plots or colony, the promoter must to submit a plan of sewage & waste management. This will stop generation of garbage & dirty water on surface and for the existing areas also the association needs to be asked to do the same.

Safe drinking water which should make coimbatore the first city in India where bottled water should be banned. That would protect the environment and as well make our city the best.
