Initiatives in cleanliness of Coimbatore is a must. Public toilets have to be built everywhere and people who urinate in the open should be strictly fined. Garbage collection should improve and the corporation has to ensure no garbage lies strewn in the streets.

The idea of Multi modal transport is - METRO system which will cover rail based system inside the city limits connecting main arterial nodes like Avinashi road, MTP road, etc. The bus system will connect vertically with more frequencies like along pankaja mill road, kamarajar road, NSR road etc which will connect to Metro stations. Suburban network can utilize existing railway lines connecting Mettupalayam, Trippur, Polachi & Palakkad. Second railway terminal should be established at Podanur

Unified Transport Authority
First, Coimbatore being second largest city in TN needs multi-modal transport options. We need a rail based transit system (METRO), an complementary suburban rail network and Bus transit. Now this Unified transport authority forms the vision for public transport in coimbatore. This will plan routes and frequencies which are in sync with Metro & suburban trains. A person must be able to get a pass/ticket which can be used across the modes of transport.

our pm's idea is like a second opurtunity for all of us n nt all get a second chance. so what all are the mistakes we know. now its our time to correct them. i suggest buiding a city from scratch outside coimbatore which would be smart city. and properr planning should be done so that our mistakes arent repeated.
1. proper ug infrastructure
2.seperate residential, indestrial, educational and medical zones
3.proper connectivity between those
4.open spaces a lot of'em for parks n recreation.

my first problem that i face in my city is roads being dug frequently.i believe a city is smart when it has a quality infrastructure underground as well
1.proper ugd n storm water drain.
2.road should be designed in a way that water doesnt accumlalate
3.all electric cables telephone lines n internet cables undergrround
4.a provision for automated waste disposal like the songdo city korea for future development.
5.all this in one giant tunnel n provisions for workers to go in it safely.

In and around Coimbatore City, there are lot of lakes located and many of them are occupied by encroachment. I do understand State Govt is constructing apartments to relocate the public who lives in the bank of all lakes. Part of the SMART City development, please speed up the scheme to relocate all public to the apartments and make the lake and the banks like the ones in abroad apecially in Switzerland.

The city of Coimbatore requires to ensure basic infrastructure services to enable a decent quality of life in urban pockets and a clean and sustainable environment and adoption of smart solutions and providing more public spaces to poor. It may be implemented through areas based approach consisting of retrofitting, re-development, pan city initiatives. There is also need of hours to develop and adopt a model code for development of new cities Pan India for continuous pace of Smart Development.
