Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has been selected through a competitive process for SMART City Mission initiative of Government of India. In the next phase, Coimbatore city has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities which will be taken up for the first round of funding, for the financial year 2015-16.

Citizens and stakeholders of Coimbatore are requested to post their views and suggestions on how to make Coimbatore a Smart one. The citizens may organize their thoughts on the following topics

1. What should be the Vision of the Coimbatore
2. Strengths, areas of improvement & solutions across the following sectors

a. City Spatial Structure, Transportation and Green Spaces
b. Energy, Water, Waste Water and Environment
c. Housing, Health, Education, Security, Law and Order
d. Citizen Engagement, Smart Solutions and IT-led service delivery

1.Expansion of Coimbatore railway station, 2.Airport Expansion with international standard 3.All major roads in Coimbatore should be atleast four lane 4.Integarted bus stand 5.Need more IT and Manufacturing companies[Sez] 6.Need Central Government instituion and Company.

1.Expansion of Coimbatore railway station, if railway station cannot be expanded in current place, should change railway station to another place (like Peelamedu) and expand in big Way 2.Make all the Government offices in one place, for easy access. 3.24 hour transport facility in major parts of city. 4.Introduce Local trains Coimbatore and renovate local stations around 5.Large Auditorium, Improve markets to a standard in a suitable place and Need More Malls, Fun Parks,

in intrest of public safety, pedestrian subways should be built in the following locations: 1. lakshmi mills junction. 2. hopes college junction. 3. SITRA junction 4. railway junction front entrance near KR bakes. 5.puliyakulam junction o trichy road.

1. development and expansion of important link roads like kanuvai-thudiyalur road, vellaikinar road, etc. 2. making crosscut road a hawker free zone as in pondy bazzar chennai. 3. strict rule implementation in public areas like railway station, bus stand against open urination, spitting, etc. 4. strict rules against smoking in common areas like bus stands, commercial hot spots, etc.

1.Airport Expansion with international standard infrastructure is the first priority for Coimbatore growth,since it is industrial city 2.All major roads in Coimbatore should be atleast four lane and should look like Avinashi road & Bridges on required areas. 3.International Multipurpose stadium for Cricket,Football Etc 4.Integarted bus stand 5.Need more IT and Manufacturing companies[Sez] 6.Need Central Government instituion and Company. 7.Multistorage parking & all basic facility

development to arterial roads of coimbatore: 1. multiple flyovers on avinashi road OR an elevated four lane flyover from upplipalayam to SITRA. 2. proper expansion and development of trichy road to the standards of avinashi road in the aspect of center median, lighting, footpaths and flyovers. 3. formation of a cloverleaf interchange at ondipudur junction of trichy road and L&T bypass road. 4. expansion of pollachi road from aathupalam to L&T bypass junction with a cloverleaf interchange.

basic road infra is a must. the following roads necessarily need to be widened/developed ASAP: 1. brookbond road from brookefields signal to avinashi road flyover. 2. thadagam road from GCT to kanuvai 3. ROB at avarampalayam 4.ROB at tidel park gate. 5. expansion of madukkarai RUB on palakkad road 6. expansion of marudamalai road and CML the same 7. flyovers at lakshmi mills junction, hopes junction, peelamedu junction and airport junction, saibaba temple junction on MTP road
