In addition to the name 'Khadi' the products of Rural Women Employment through Khadi should be branded by various names to attract customers.

As Saumya below has pointed, changing the fashion trend is the most important in order to achieve high sales of Khadi. It can be done by something similar to PM promoting the cloth like he did for one in recent Republic day. Also big celebrities like Amitabh Bachan, Sachin Tendulka, may be Arvind Kejriwal might be asked to endorse for the cloth by wearing them as often as possible. These people kick start a trend in fashion and soon shops will be flooded with demand of Khadi

1.Fashion Designers could be encouraged to create clothes using Khadi and export them. Give them incentives in terms of tax breaks when Khadi is exclusively used as the primary fabric.2. Tie up with various embassies and Indian associations in different countries to reach out to the diaspora by holding special events like fashion shows, exhibitions, and sales focused on Khadi garments and products. 3. Build a Branding initiative for Khadi through digital media, online sales portals.

I believe we have to build Khadi as an upmarket product not some low cost product we are selling to help the poor. Fab india has done exactly that. Markets in Europe and US can be reached through online portals supported by india festival in all these markets to make people overseas and Indians see these as classy products, thus giving better return to the weavers

An online portal, run by a new cooperaitve (like Amul), with online sales, can be created, integrating designers, manufacturers, distributors (based on geography) and buyers. Designers may be paid a royalty, manufacturers and distributors their due, with all income from sales going to the cooperative. This way, good designs will attract a lot of sales, facilitating manufacturers to make more of products that have demand. Amul's success can be replicated, Govt facilitating just in its start.
