The objective of the Group is to brainstorm and invite considered views of all stakeholders in Chemicals & Petrochemical sector that include polymers, plastics, synthetic rubber basic Chemicals, pesticide, dyes etc. The sector is touching the lives of each and every member of the society. This sector has tremendous potential of growth vis a vis the contribution of this sector in the world economy, especially in the manufacturing sector in developed countries. The sector also offers employment opportunities for a large population.

As the sector is already liberalized, which has also resulted in a rapid increase in imports, there is a need to review this situation and to promote domestic manufacturing by attracting large investments and providing facilitative policy regime. At the same time, sustainability and environment friendliness of the industries in this sector also has to be ensured as an initiative as part of ‘MAKE IN INDIA’ campaign of the new government.

Comments and views are invited from the stakeholder at large.

the industrial growth of country is measured by production of sulfuric acid in country. And as we know there is scarcity of sulfur in India because of lack of active volcanoes in country. and sulfur is continuously being wasted in sugar mill either directly(for clarification process) or indirectly(using phosphoric acid which requires sulfuric acid for its production .) Thus wastage of sulfur should be stopped.

In a situation of war,our JAMNAGAR refinery is a soft target for enemies.strategically it's very important for us.we are very much depending for petroleum supplies to the refinery.financially it's a strong industry.if government,RIL,insurance companies make a investment pool, purchase aircraft, choppers, missile, defense system,it will increase our defense system in low investment.we'll not violate Geneva convention.we'll show it private sector investment for defense.

Subsidy Free Cylinders : Petroleum ministry wants rich people who can afford the unsubsidised cylinders to give up subsidised cylinder : It can be done by advertising/ branding the Unsubsidised cylinders by making it a status symbol to use a Unsubsidised cylinder. If a stylish new cylinder is designed for the subsidy free users with preferred and prioritised service given, I guess people will tend to opt for subsidy free cylinders. In India people pay for branded things that add to their status.

It is required to format all the the existing rule and make it so simple that stakeholders get motivated and come forward to do some thing for growth of the sector. Our policies are too sophisticated to motivate up growing and up coming stakeholders.Aspirants of business get totally confused when thy approach to govt offices for completing the govt formalities. We have enormous potential in SSI sector but due to this many are ruined out or sick, while it is only which generate economy & emply

Govt can plan to reduce the tax burden on companies which are manufacturing and supplying various industrial equipments to petrochemical and fertilizer plans ( like Heat Exchangers, pressure vessels, boilers , etc). This can bring down the cost of constructing a fertilizer / petrochemical plant substantially.
