Our city is famous for textiles and rapid development, but we also see many homeless people – especially daily wage workers – who sleep in the open even during heavy rains. During this rainy season, I want to suggest a simple and human idea – let’s start “Monsoon Sewa Sheds” across cities like Surat. These would be temporary shelters during the monsoon – with clean floor mats, dry clothes, plastic sheets or raincoats, and some warm food. I also request local textile businesses to donate old or unsold stock like tarpaulins or raincoats, which can be a lifesaver. If the government can temporarily open unused community halls, anganwadi centers, bus depots, or panchayat buildings during the night for shelter, even for a few weeks, it can help save many lives. Small steps by citizens, with support from government and local groups, can make this monsoon season safer

As of today, we import majority of our oil from other countries. How, we can reduce our dependency towards import of oil and pave way forward towards sustainable future.

Honorable PM, I am a 12th science student (PCMB) from WB state. Last year, when we had our Biology practical classes, we would see and identify animal specimens. This year, some people (I am not sure who but I think from the education ministry or so) took those animal specimens because they said it was illegal. I could understand we were not allowed to dissect live animals such as frogs and cockroaches, but taking away preserved dead animals, which taught Thousands of Students really hinders the true understanding of Biology. It would be better if we were allowed to keep the preserved animal specimens in all schools for teaching students. The students would understand the importance of Biology as their subject and simply, the real view of animal specimens would peak their interest in learning about our wonderful nature than the book diagrams or pictures from the Internet.
