There is a need to improve access to child health services. The Ministry of Health is focusing on promoting child health through appropriate interventions. Presently, the Department of School Education and Literacy, MHRD addresses the nutritional needs of school going children in the age group of 6-14 years through the Mid- Day Meal (MDM) Scheme. The Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) under WCD also addresses the issues of child health. There is, however, a need to synergize the multi-sectoral interventions taken by the relevant GOI Ministries. The existing schemes need to be examined for their outcomes and impediments in implementation, including those of coordination. This theme seeks views and suggestions on how to ensure greater focus on child through improvements in existing schemes and suggest new holistic interventions.

Sports need to be given extra attention during school days onwards. Idea should be to prepare them to make them National and International level players in all the fields like China encourages and prepares children from the raw age .The flexibility is more. Attention power and will power to learn and following the instruction is excellent.Being innocent and fresh at heart tendency to grasp is more.As Teenager children generally start rebelling at that age. please reduce the timings of Kendriya Vidhyalaya. At present the timings are from 7.30 am to 1.45 pm. Now in the age of competition many students go to coaching classes for carving their career. but for the KVS students, these timings are too cumbersome due to which the rate of drop outs from the KVS is sharply increasing.

In my views, the best way to start the division of streams should be after fifth grade. Then full proof syllabus should be made to make them master in their fields .Practical knowledge should be given more weightage rather then written work. Schools should cater for best Labs to teach and make them practice as much as they want. Like for Engineering field. All types of material should be available to make children venture to explore .Same is Science field. All types of gadgets2be made available.

Education should be made totally free upto any level. But the educated must be made accountable in terms of his/her service to the society. Morality and humane behaviour must be made compulsory subject of study and the results of all public examinations must give proper weightage for the knowledge and inculcation of these. Training in cleanliness, agriculture, environment friendliness, defense and self defense, first aid, calamity fighting - must be compulsory irrespective of course of study.
