There is a need to improve access to child health services. The Ministry of Health is focusing on promoting child health through appropriate interventions. Presently, the Department of School Education and Literacy, MHRD addresses the nutritional needs of school going children in the age group of 6-14 years through the Mid- Day Meal (MDM) Scheme. The Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) under WCD also addresses the issues of child health. There is, however, a need to synergize the multi-sectoral interventions taken by the relevant GOI Ministries. The existing schemes need to be examined for their outcomes and impediments in implementation, including those of coordination. This theme seeks views and suggestions on how to ensure greater focus on child through improvements in existing schemes and suggest new holistic interventions.

Try to keep clean the Govt.schools and people should be proud of sending their children to Govt. schools. There should be a big Que for admission. To achieve this, what we should do? Do that first. There is no need to change the curriculum. I have not found any difference whether people got educated 60 years or 10 years back.

I am 68 years old person. When I visited recently my old school, I found that there is no change. This govt. school is not clean and the classes are same. There is no sufficient place. I cried when the headmaster asked me, what I feel about the progress. They wanted two computers, I could immediately send them. I do not understand what is policy?

we do not have choice based education system. Most of the subjects are fixed streams. A student has to learn all the subjects even if he is not interested in it. They should be counselled and given a chance to choose the core and elective subjects.

Publish a list of vaccination to be provided to children for each age. Make it compulsory to all the parents to submit Vaccination certificate in school for admission during the start of the year every year. There should be zero tolerance on this.

Start by changing all references in all text books (including schools and colleges) where instructional material refers to "he"only. Replace this with a "she/he" where let ladies come first. All citizens are equal and this equality should reflect in what our children are learning from a very young age. Mrs.Smriti Irani, you can make this happen. Just issue the directive for this and reap the benefit of a positive change.
