With over 1.5 lakh Post Offices, the Department of Posts has the most widely distributed Postal network in the world. The goal of the Rural ICT Project is to provide a low power technology solution (ICT Device) to each Branch Postmaster (BPM) which will enable each of approximately 130,000 Extra Departmental Post Offices (EDOs) to improve the level of services being offered to rural customers with an objective to improve the quality of service, add value to services and achieve “financial inclusion” of un-banked rural population

The selected entry will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and two runners up entries will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2,000 each.

PROJECT DOSTI (Delivery Of Solutions through Technology & Innovation): Given its objective, it will be apt to name the project ‘DOSTI’ (“friendship" in Hindi). It will represent DOP’s efforts to build a connect or DOSTI with the un-banked population through technology. The ICT device will be called ‘DOST’ (meaning “friend" in Hindi). The ‘DOST' (DOP's On-demand Service Tool) will be the BPM’s companion in providing value-add services to the rural customers. #IndiaPost #RuralICT #IndiaPost

THEME: The name 'DOST' says it all. In rural India the project ICT will work as a friend for rural citizens. Project will help them fulfill their financial needs. The technology will add feathers to the legacy of 'POST DEPARTMENT' as old trusted name for every Indian. Trust always bridge the pool & nobody in the world else the friend is trustworthy. This device is a friend(DOST) for postmasters to deliver the best out of them.

सर अगर हम यही प्रोजेक्ट ग्रामीण क्षेत्रोमे जल्दी सुरु हो गया तो लोगोका समय और पैसा दोनोका बचत होणे मे बहुत बडी मदत हो सकती है और इसिके साथ ग्रामीण उद्योजक और किसान गाव मे हि बाजार भाव का चढ उतार समाज सकता हैl अभी ग्रामीण क्षेत्र मे बिजली और इंटरनेट सुविधा सुरु कि जानी चाहिये
