Sirji, If I were to be the Government, I would start the scheme of DISTRIBUTION OF LED LAMPS TO NEEDY GROUPS (EG. BPL GROUP), to replace their incandescent lamps being used in their house. The electricity saved is substantial enough to sell it Industrial units at higher tariff, & revenue earned through the process can be used to fund sourcing of LED Lamps. DETAILS ARE GIVEN IN THE PDF UPLOADED HEREWITH ALONG WITH FINANCIAL ESTIMATE TABLE, SHOWING WIN-WIN SITUATION FOR ONE & ALL !

To save energy govt should approve only those e rickshaws which will have solar panels roofs, so their batteries are automatically charged in day time. It will reduce the burden on already over loaded electric system.

Change beings at home! It is important to understand the potential of saving energy at individual level. It can be our homes, offices, and supermarkets! The adoption of Energy Conservation Building Code announced by Bureau of Energy Efficiency needs to get attention by the Urban Local Bodies. Government of other states making it as part of the Building Administration process. We are lagging behind in the implementation process of the Energy Conservation programs at individual level.

Encourage LED manufacturing in small scale industries in a big way by giving training in ITIs . In next 2-3 years employment and environment problems will be solved. If Possible, change TIME ZONE(IST) by one hour (except east and north east states). This would give tremendous results. ONE day in a week dedicating to travel by public transport by every one to save environment from pollution. (Govt. can support argument as it is in DIRECTIVE PRINCIPLES OF STATE POLICY to PROTECT ENVIRONMENT.

To light a large room, we could use fewer light sources, all made of LED, and mirrors to reflect them around rather than using multiple sources of light! I think this is workable!
