Respected prime minister, ನಮ್ಮ ಊರು ಅರಣ್ಯದ ಅಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಒಂದು ಸಣ್ಣ ಹಳ್ಳಿ. ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ತೋಟಗಳು, ಹಸಿರು ಹೊಲಗಳು. ರಾತ್ರಿ ಹೊತ್ತಾದಾಗ ಅರಣ್ಯದಿಂದ wild buffalo ಊರಿನತ್ತ ಬರುತ್ತವೆ. ಹಸಿವು ತಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು, ಹುಲ್ಲು ತಿನ್ನಲು ಅವು ತೋಟಗಳಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತವೆ. ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಇದು ಬದುಕಿನ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆ, ಆದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಊರಿನವರಿಗೆ ಅದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೆ. ಕೆಲವರು ತೋಟ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಡೈರೆಕ್ಟ್ ಕರೆಂಟ್ ಹಾಕುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆ ನಿರಪರಾಧ ಕಾಡು ಎಮೆಗಳು ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಸ್ಪರ್ಶಿಸಿ ಅಲ್ಲೇ ಸಾಯುತ್ತವೆ. ಆ ದೃಶ್ಯ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಕಲುಷಿತವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ, ಆದರೆ ಮಾತಾಡಲು ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಧೈರ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ನಾವು ಅರಣ್ಯ ಇಲಾಖೆಗೆ ಫೋನ್ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ. “ಬನ್ನಿ, ಏನಾದರೂ ಮಾಡಿ” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ತಡವಾಗಿ ಬರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಬರುವಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಮುಗಿದಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಸತ್ತ ಕಾಡು ಎಮೆಯನ್ನು ಯಾರೋ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಬಂದರೂ, ಏನನ್ನೂ ನೋಡದೇ, ಏನನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡದೇ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗುತ್ತಾರೆ.ಮತ್ತೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ನಾವು ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇವೆ, ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಆದರೆ ಯಾರೂ ಕಿವಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಕಾಡು ಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಬದುಕುವ ಹಕ್ಕಿದೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಯಾರೂ ಅರಿಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಈ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದೇ ನಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ನಮ್ಮ ಊರು ಮೌನವಾಗಿ ಈ ಅನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ನೋಡುತ್ತಲೇ ಬದುಕುತ್ತಿದೆ.

Baghpat Zero Waste Mahotsav, Shivratri 2026 “भक्ति भी, प्रकृति भी” Mahashivratri 2026 at the historic Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Temple in Baghpat was not just a religious celebration, it became a movement. A movement that proved devotion and environmental responsibility can walk hand in hand. Lakhs of devotees gathered to offer prayers, chant “Har Har Mahadev,” and participate in the traditional mela and kavad yatra. But this year, something was different. Under the visionary leadership of District Magistrate Ms. Asmita Lal, the entire celebration was planned and executed as a "Zero Waste Mahotsav". The goal was simple yet powerful, ensure that faith does not harm nature. For years, large gatherings during festivals have resulted in massive waste generation, plastic bottles, disposable cutlery, ritual leftovers, and scattered garbage. This Shivratri, Baghpat chose transformation over tradition-bound waste.
