Indore is considered cleanest city of India. But recently the dark side of Indore came to surface as the contaminated drinking water claimed several lives. Thereafter, similar reports started coming from several parts of the country. It is known that drinking water distribution pipe lines are mostly in bad condition in every city across country and prone to damage by any digging work undertaken by several other agencies. Drinking water distribution is under municipality jurisdiction which are grossly inefficient. Central Government can not directly intervene in the matter. But, it is a serious matter so the Central Government shall convene a meeting of Chief Ministers of all states and discuss how to correct the crumbling drinking water distribution network. If the state government require any help from centre, then how centre can extend helping hands through some special purpose vehicle (SPV).
