Recently, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the webinar on effective implementation of the Union Budget provisions in the defence sector. During his address, the Prime Minister said that the webinar was of great significance as it focused on the important issue of making the country’s defence sector self-reliant.

The Prime Minister said that the defence corridors that are being built in the country today would also help local entrepreneurs and local manufacturing. That is, today, self-sufficiency in our defence sector has to be seen as the empowerment of these two fronts – “Jawan as well as Youth”.

The key announcements in the Union Budget related to Defence Sector are as follows and we seek ideas and suggestions from the public and other stakeholders on the same:
• Budgeted expenditure for capital outlay in defence increased by approx. 19%, highest in 15 years
• Disinvestment aimed in the sector to increase opportunities for private players
• Reduction in customs duty rates to nil for import of parts by public sector units (under Ministry of Defence) for manufacturing of aircrafts and parts

Some critics say that instead of encouraging the manufacturing of equipment in India, the Modi government has given financial powers to the Armed forces to purchase equipment up to ₹500 crores without the consultation of the Ministry.[51][52] This will further increase the types of weapons, their spares

Sir,myself a service veteran understand the hope & aspiration of a aspirant youth to be a member of services in future. in past conscripts were made sepoys and it is called recruits now but the youth who becomes a noble gentry means officer r trained in such mindset that he always looks down upon a soldier through complete course of life even after retirement even though the soldier has become something by virtue of his efforts. sir, soldiers should be given to chance to allowed to study further

Defence budget allocation should take care of 7000+ Kms óf coast line.Territorial waters is 12 nautical miles. To see on horizon you need50 mtrs tower to cover this distance. So we need 700 towers at a distance of 10 Kms on the entire coastline this should be capable of getting all data, remote viewing with best camera's ,solar or wind powered, with satallite link & satallite camera. More features for major ports, coastal airports. These towers can be useful for weather data on real-time on mainland.

Sir please provide more benefits to the old retired military persons because I see many of them working as ATM watchman, Hospital watchman etc.If they are financially well why they are working like this for meagre salary in their old age.I think the militaryman who retired before the Kargil war are receiving only less pension.

In July 2015, the defence ministry eased export regulations and stopped demanding multiple assurances on end-use from foreign governments even for sale of components by Indian entities.[50] Some critics say that instead of encouraging the manufacturing of equipment in India, the Modi government has given financial powers to the Armed forces to purchase equipment up to ₹500 crores without the consultation of the Ministry.[51][52] This will further increase the types of weapons, their spares and
