Recently, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the webinar on effective implementation of the Union Budget provisions in the defence sector. During his address, the Prime Minister said that the webinar was of great significance as it focused on the important issue of making the country’s defence sector self-reliant.

The Prime Minister said that the defence corridors that are being built in the country today would also help local entrepreneurs and local manufacturing. That is, today, self-sufficiency in our defence sector has to be seen as the empowerment of these two fronts – “Jawan as well as Youth”.

The key announcements in the Union Budget related to Defence Sector are as follows and we seek ideas and suggestions from the public and other stakeholders on the same:
• Budgeted expenditure for capital outlay in defence increased by approx. 19%, highest in 15 years
• Disinvestment aimed in the sector to increase opportunities for private players
• Reduction in customs duty rates to nil for import of parts by public sector units (under Ministry of Defence) for manufacturing of aircrafts and parts

The Indian Army (and the other services too) can be compared to the BEST in the world. But our army personnel do not always receive the respect they deserve from civilians. The Police are seen to be having more "RAUB" and are feared on account of their harassment potential. Can some measures be put in place so that Army personnel get a little bit more respect (AND PAY) ? This could help to attract more of our youth to the Armed Forces. The strain on resources would be offset by the benefits.

As per my opinion the Tejas Mk2 project would not be a efficient spend of money instead the same amount should be put to development of: 1: ORCA(OMNI ROLE COMBAT AIRCRAFT) which would be by design inspired by TEDBF if not exactly same. 2: development of stealth bomb and missile pods for TEDBF, ORCA and AMCA. Because the aging fleet of mig29 and jaguar fighters will need to be replaced soon and using a twin engine fighter would prove more suitable for all kinds of roles.

Govt. should Focus On PSU as it is one of the major source of Govt. Job. So instead of moving towards "privatization of PSU" we have to move ahead for better management of PSU so that they can perform better like a private company. As We Had Studied That PSUs are established to increase the growth of employment and maintain inflation in those product.
