I appreciate the initiative taken by the govt. Cleaning Ganga is a overgoing process with the involvement of each and every individual. To start with the prominent areas like ghats where the people visit the most must be targeted so that it gives a first impression that the work has started and will spark other people to take care of the rest areas. Flood are another area of concern. Desilting process should be initiated with the help of experts.

Cleaning Ganga is really good project but need to think seriously about this flood issues in some of the northern states but in the south side always fight between southern states for water. This river linking project should be taken into priority and all the rivers in India should be nationalized so that central government will have control over it.

Flood in Kashmir and dearth of water in Delhi and Haryana clearly tells us that the time has come to start River linking process full fledgedly.

What do u mean by "useless religious rituals".its like saying if city waste are dumped in Ganga then do not produce waste, if pollution is produced by rituals then take care of wastedonsay anything before u understand the philosophy behind it. Rituals don't make Ganga dirty it was performed ages ago and at that time Ganga was perfectly clean. The main reason for Ganga being dirty is all the city waste are dumped in Ganga not only city waste but industrial waste too in city like Kanpur,Patna, etc.

No matter how much is spent, Ganga will never get clean until certain useless religious rituals are stopped. Also, uptil now am sure around a 1000 crore must have been spent, whats the result ? All money went waste most may be in the pockets of politicians, some in bureaucrats & hardly any for actually cleaning the river.

first of all we have to understood the national importance of our holy river ganga.one major polluting factor f river ganga is the teneries which pollutes the ganga a lot.in my view government should have to ban the disposal of waste of teneries in ganga, especially in kanpur.we have to clean ganga just like our home and we have to took part in making ganga clean and pollution free.

We should start interlinking our rivers in those areas which are always affected by heavy floods. A blueprint in 1962 but no action yet? Think how much we can benefit from it - all rivers flowing full of water, not stagnant water; small dams for water conservation, generating electricity, helping farmlands getting required water, waterways for easy transportation of goods, and generation of more tourism revenue from these waterways; and above all no more floods. I know how to do it.
