The objective of the Group is to brainstorm and invite considered views of all stakeholders in Chemicals & Petrochemical sector that include polymers, plastics, synthetic rubber basic Chemicals, pesticide, dyes etc. The sector is touching the lives of each and every member of the society. This sector has tremendous potential of growth vis a vis the contribution of this sector in the world economy, especially in the manufacturing sector in developed countries. The sector also offers employment opportunities for a large population.

As the sector is already liberalized, which has also resulted in a rapid increase in imports, there is a need to review this situation and to promote domestic manufacturing by attracting large investments and providing facilitative policy regime. At the same time, sustainability and environment friendliness of the industries in this sector also has to be ensured as an initiative as part of ‘MAKE IN INDIA’ campaign of the new government.

Comments and views are invited from the stakeholder at large.

Chemical Industry is R&D driven field. From College / School Days --- policy implementation is required so that brains can be attracted in this field. Most of the Biz House Involved in Chem Industry --- promoters are non tech/chem field resulting poor growth of this industry. Poor growth means poor revenue output and brains from IIT like institutes have limited option. Low cost chemicals from china is eating indian chem industry bcoz low productivity resulting hi manufacturing cost.

For a long time the chemical and petrochemical industry is suffering due to inability to sell products at competitive prices, government regulatory bodies intervention, unavailability of locations where a chemical can be started, in appropriate infra structure where a chemical industry can be started,... The inability to sell a chemical product at competitive price came when chemicals were imported from China at a cheap price.

Views on Alcohol drinking: According to me, An alcohol drinker will drink Alcohol a day, but my point is Ban(prevent) Alcohol drink selling at least 5Pm(i.e) Wine shop should open after 5pm at the evening, Since i am telling since i am an business man, i run industry, labour come to work with drunken situation and cab or motor vechicle drivers come and they will drive in drunk stage, in this stage we cant control the worker since labour shortage and they will quit the job if i say dont drink

Packaging industry largely used chemicals or plastics and other like materials but its recycling is not visible. Chemical Scientist may find ways to recycle the packaging material so that rag pickers collect it and dump there which will be economically viable. One suggestion is packaging materials must crushed and used in filling of pots/pits in road construction especially rural areas. this may also be used making pavement blocks with mixture of concrete.

In chemical factory and related to chemical west producer factory should strictly collect their west chemical instade of throwing them to drainage. This west can recycle .which prevent our water get affected. Government should step forward to install such recycle chemical plant or subsidise those intrested to develop such plants. And strict action should take against who throw such chemical west directly to drainage.
