The objective of the Group is to brainstorm and invite considered views of all stakeholders in Chemicals & Petrochemical sector that include polymers, plastics, synthetic rubber basic Chemicals, pesticide, dyes etc. The sector is touching the lives of each and every member of the society. This sector has tremendous potential of growth vis a vis the contribution of this sector in the world economy, especially in the manufacturing sector in developed countries. The sector also offers employment opportunities for a large population.

As the sector is already liberalized, which has also resulted in a rapid increase in imports, there is a need to review this situation and to promote domestic manufacturing by attracting large investments and providing facilitative policy regime. At the same time, sustainability and environment friendliness of the industries in this sector also has to be ensured as an initiative as part of ‘MAKE IN INDIA’ campaign of the new government.

Comments and views are invited from the stakeholder at large.

Effluents from distillery if treated with waste from sugar mill by using BIO-TECHNOLOGY i e with bacteria's of different kind, becomes organic/Bio fertilizer which has far superior characteristics than UREA or DAP.If the effluent of all the distilleries in india is converted into organic /Bio fertilizer then we may stop importing UREA and this a best method to treat distillery effluent, which is highly toxic and is the cause of pollution of ground water and rivers. At small level we are doing it

Question to Shri Dharmendra Pradhan , Honourable MoS for Petroleum and NG , Delhi . One pertinent question on prices of ATF and diesel. Whereas diesel price today is about Rs 51/- per lit , ATF price is around Rs 45/- per litre. Isn't this ironical ? Whereas diesel is widely used in rural areas ( for water pumps in the agri fields ) and in trucks and Diesel engines for trains , it's price is higher than the ATF by 11% to 12 % !! > Can this not be corrected ? > > Rgds > Ram > Bangalore

The unorganized sector comprises of Wholesalers, Retailers, Co-operatives, Marketing Federations and Mixing units etc. The sales acknowledgement happens through the retailers who are mostly disconnected. About 70% of retailers are associated with wholesalers rather than the companies for the trade. It is a serious pitfall as though retailers are a key factor in subsidy process; they have no strong linkages in the value chain. This process needs to be reviewed to avoid financial hardship on Mftrs.
