Can NRIs play a more active role in increasing tourist arrivals to India? How can this effort become more institutionalized?

Hi Guys, Just thought of sharing this. About Proposed Bharatmala, Not only we should build this for strategic & trade reasons, We should build this thinking ahead. This could be good venture for border tourism as well with food & vista pts. We should make the roads so that any type of aircraft can land there. We should also put sensors and cameras into the light polls for looking into the other side of the border day and night. Road should have water, fiber optic lines, electricity, gas line, rail

Another curious step has been introduced. It is not just enough to send your former Indian passport for cancellation but you also need to now apply for renunciation with a fee around $200. You also have to apply and get the other country passport (in my case US) first before you can surrrender your Indian passport. So now the time line is as follows: Step 1. Apply for US passport - 6 weeks Step 2: Send for renunciation 4 weeks Step 3: Apply for OCI - 3 months. Total timeline: 6 months!

Also, I think OCI should be updated to give OCI specific passports. We need not have the same rights as the regular citizens of India, but not having a passport and having to travel to India on a different passport does not threaten the national security in any way. Dont understand how it serves the dual nationality concerns. For example, Britain has different types of nationality with different rights just like Puerto Rico/ American Samoa in United States.

Every big cities must have side walk like in USA or Canada for people to walk freely. More highways and express Lans can be build. Every house hold must get 24/7 water supply. This is the only way India will be better place and growth and job prospects.

I also have suggestion for OCI of reissuance where online papers can be processed and after 5 days OCI booklet can be given online to save time and money to the travelling person.

Dear Modiji, Your trip and speech to Canada was excellent. As NRI, we need a law to protect NRIs property in India to boost travel and investment. People afraid to buy property knowingly that whoever either renter or care taker will take the property and then we have to fight in court to prove our legal property rights. Can you make a law that no NRIs property in India can possess or sell and can be evicted right away if a NRI is truly have legal paper of ownership. Arvind from Ottawa

E-visa is great and sounds seamless, but for Indian diaspora's these new regulation of converting PIO to OCI is very poorly thought through and is inefficient and time consuming. 1. Why does any existing PIO holder have to go through this grilling paper work and 60 days process for conversion ? 2. Can the existing PIO's be deemed as OCI automatically? 3. The requirement for SFO and NY Consulate are different, how is that possible ? 4. PIO was issued with proper validation why again ?

1.Since there are Indians all over the world, Air India must connect all the countries of the world as done by Emirates, British Airways. 2. All the flights, domestic as well as international, must provide Wifi, so that tourists prefer Air India. 3. India must allow dual citizenship.

Hello Sir, In my opinion, establishing a good flight network is vital to boost tourism. At least, all states of tourism interest, should have their capitals connected by daily direct flights. The flight rates too, need to be reasonable. For instance, at the moment, it is pretty difficult for a tourist in Uttarakhand to travel directly to Goa, primarily due to the the following reasons: 1. No direct flight to Goa from Dehradun 2. Air travel from Dehradun to Goa is very expensive. Thanks.
