Our universities should project topics relavent for next 25 years and sow seeds of interest in students. For example in electronics if we talk of Graphene the process es for manufacturing, advantage over current material we may be in competition with other countries in couple of years or else out of the race. There are so many topics on YouTube, likeTedtalks,Nova,Discover.unless these subjects are part of our education system our thinking, quest will not be generated.See success of small S.Korea.

First of we all need to thankful to the goverment for its vision towards making electronics products in India and Making India a Hub for manufacture, we are good in software and we need to be better in hardware also. As roam was not build in a day we have also to adopt holistic approach for making in india a dream true. various factors need to be considered including learning from our neighbor china how they became worlds factory 1. Skilled labour 2. low cost of finance 3.robust exp incentive

Cheap imports of mobile accessories shall be restricted. All these accessories are sold without bill/Without warranty in famous market like lemignton road,Palika Bazar,Alfa.... whenwe ask for bill, shopkeeper says that no bill is available for imported item.
ITs basically circulation n generation source of black money. Custom officers are part of this game, without their permission, nothing can be imported.
Government is loosing revenue, customers are loaded with poor quality products.

It is not needed to manufacture all items. Ex. some silicon devices production pollute. So, import those parts. Must be a judicial balance of assembly PLUS manufacture. Those in field know best about RIGHT make/buy needs. Next imp. aspect is, E-waste. Make mandatory collection of them by manufacturers/ sellers. ONE Suggestion- polluting electronic factories , be located far from human settlements, say, in deserts, sea-shore etc, nearer port. ASSESS all raw material-needs , incl. water needs.

If we can find such products from current export list, that would be awesome, otherwise we should select from future possible electronic products e.g. IOT devices, specific medical devices, select niche components etc. For the chosen products, we must provide strong incentives, ensure trained labour pool, provide ease of doing business and improve infrastructure support. We must become global leaders in few rather than trying to be jack of all trades.

Now lets look at the other leg, the exports... It is very important for our country to have more exports than imports, if we can do that even at the cost of slower domestic growth, it will make our country more prosperous. I am pleasantly surprised to see that we do have some exports (6b), would be interesting to see what items those are. However my thinking here is that to create significant exports, we must become good (quality and price) in few niche areas (products).

Think of it this way, consumer has to buy, manufacturer has to sell and make his margins, can we therefore convince this manufacturer to take him same or better margins while manufacturing in India. This will keep everyone happy, consumer gets same price, same technology, manufacturer get same or better take home margins and Govt wins with increased taxes from increased employment. Even if Govt has to get net taxes as zero it is still beneficial as it takes care of unemployment issues.
