Gender disparity manifests itself in various forms, the most obvious being the trend of continuously declining female ratio in the population in the last few decades. Social stereotyping and violence at the domestic and societal levels are some of the other manifestations. Discrimination against girl children, adolescent girls and women persists in parts of the country.

Consequently, the access of women particularly those belonging to weaker sections including Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/ Other backward Classes and minorities, majority of whom are in the rural areas and in the informal, unorganized sector – to education, health and productive resources, among others, is inadequate. Therefore, they remain largely marginalized, poor and socially excluded.

In co-ed schools, a common feature observed is that there is a separate part of the room for boys and another for girls. This is especially so in the higher classes. Boys think that the girl students don't have capability equivalent to theirs. This can only be stopped if both girls and boys and made to work together starting from LKG, UKG.

Previous Request: Reminder. Date. 26-12-2014.

Students in School are discriminated in PT classes (Sports meant for boys and the one's meant for girls). This should first stop and all sports to be accessible to all. Boys especially should be given the message that Girls especially are stronger emotionally and achieve major milestones as a child much earlier than boys do. Real life examples of successful women to be shared with the entire class.

Look at the websites for finding jobs. Companies shamelessly post hiring ads saying "only male candidates should apply". We have women serving the armed forces. How can some company not hire women for office job? There has to be strict rule against this. Such companies and websites having such ads should be punished for that. This and my earlier post below did not fit into any topic on your website, so I had to write here which is the closest topic. Please forward to women empowerment department

Gender sensitivity should also be taught to corporates. As soon as they see a resume from a woman, they ask "Are you married?" This is a discrimination against women and is banned in other countries. We should also have laws where employers should stop discriminating based on somebody's marital status. What she does in her personal time is none of their business.
