Corporation of Chennai is preparing a proposal towards Smart City Challenge which would include city wide smart urban solutions as well as identification of areas within the city for its implementation.

Residents may post their opinion and ideas on civic services such as transport, parking, water supply, sanitation, energy, housing, IT solutions, health, education, safety and security. Your views, opinion and solutions on urban issues faced by Chennai would not only support a better tomorrow for Chennaites, it will also make Chennai a strong contender for getting shortlisted as one of the first 20 cities in India to implement Smart City Solutions in Phase 1.

Chennai citizen and community is its biggest strength. Let’s participate to make this proposal inclusive and meaningful for every common man, every citizen.

Rain water Management A major problem still persisting during the rainy season is the rainwater being stagnated on our roads and on low level areas.I may suggest, the water present can be collected by the water sucking lorries (or other means) and can discharge these water in the nearby lake or pond. This provides balance of water in a big city like chennai. *This improves level of underground water. *Does not affect the city's routine. *The natural resource is not wasted. Jai Hind.

The need of the hour in Chennai- PROPER DRAINAGE SYSTEM Chennai has a number of things to its credits! But,there are irritants too.Temporary solution are being made. But the problem occurs again, every year. This is the case of drainage system in Chennai during Rainy season. Today,Oct 31,2015-there was heavy rain in the afternoon. I saw this in T.Nagar. The rain last for one hour. And all the busy streets of T.Nagar is flooded! Water being pumped out from drainage and let on roads everywhere.

The following are the main issues I have noticed. 1. Condition of Roads : Newly laid roads are constantly dug up for either sewage work or electrical work. There should be a standardised way of laying sewage pipes and electrical cables that in no way needs the roads to be dug up. They can be at the edge of the road or under the pavement wherever there is a pavement. Road contractors whose roads do not last beyond a rainy season should be blacklisted and not awarded contracts in future

MRTS Phase III under construction in a slow manner from St.Thomas Mount to Velachery should be converted to a Metro train and it should be extended to OMR through Tharamani, Sozhinganallur, upto Siruchery or Kelambakkam will decongest not only Rajiv Gandhi Road but also most of the Chennai city. Because by this method, a new link will be formed with existing two Metro routes under construction. - Ve Nai Go BALAGAN Velachery Chennai-42.

Underground Drainage/collection facilities, providing clean drinking water facilities and removing the unauthorised establishments along the public roads along with lighting them would be first & foremost sign of smart city. Hope to see the TAX collected is put to some use soon.#Chennai #SmartCity #MyGov

ensure all public & private organisation & schools and mega structures make use of solar energy..hence chennai climate is more summer oriented we have more summer days than other climate so through solar proj we accumulate more power and save current and other energy at least 2 some extent..even gov can encourage public in smart cities to use solar panels for solar energy thorough giving heavy subsides for purchasing panels for home use..middle class people in india cannot afford for more rate..

clean Coovam or else convert it 2 a proper under ground or closed drainage system by connecting entire city..collect those extracted from that for bio gas, desalination and renewable energy.hence cleaning is not viable bocs it is a non perennial river if we clean it also it becomes complete bare land bcos of less water supply(non perennial)only so rather investing it on for cleaning is waste of money.so make some infra for diversified drainage system for future by ensuring environmental safety..

smart city proj must ensure propr drainage systm for rain water harvesting, normally all rain water falls on roads and public places were rooted to drainages of near road side.which is also equal to wasting our natural water and then, cites looking for water frm other non perennial resources.frm 1 sq feet land we harvest 113 lts a year so frm 2400 sq we get 2,71,200 ltr frm tat we only 60% water means 1,62,720..so all parts of city must ensured with prop water arrest system..2 improve ground water
