Corporation of Chennai is preparing a proposal towards Smart City Challenge which would include city wide smart urban solutions as well as identification of areas within the city for its implementation.

The proposal would be defined primarily based on voice of Chennai residents. An extensive citizen engagement programme is established by Corporation of Chennai to document the views and concernsfor the same.

Residents may post their opinion and ideas on civic services such as transport, parking, water supply, sanitation, energy, housing, IT solutions, health, education, safety and security. Your views, opinion and solutions on urban issues faced by Chennai would not only support a better tomorrow for Chennaites, it will also make Chennai a strong contender for getting shortlisted as one of the first 20 cities in India to implement Smart City Solutions in Phase 1.

Chennai citizen and community is its biggest strength. Let’s participate to make this proposal inclusive and meaningful for every common man, every citizen.

The last date to submit your comments is 15th November, 2015.

Create a QR code of gps location for every area if not every street. These QR codes can be put on boards (sponsored by advertisers) and made available at vantage points. These boards will be helpful in case of emergency, essential services, general complaints ( roads, sewage, water). This QR code could also be outsourced to Logistics companies for their delivery at a nominal price.

For faster / efficient mobility and public transport, a market similar to Koyambedu market should be built in Madhavaram so that trucks carrying agricultural produces from Andhra Pradhesh need not enter the city, and this will ease out traffic a lot in West Chennai. Similarly, a bus terminal like CMBT can be built near Madhavaram / Red Hills so that buses to and from Andhra Pradesh can be filtered from entering and causing traffic chaos in West Chennai.

Senior citizens should be given preference and their medical needs should be provided at door steps on call free. Secondly most of the families own more than one car (some bigger size) and park them on the roads causing inconvenience to others. This tendency should be curbed. It should be made mandatory to take a declaration that the buyer has a place to park within his/her premises. These things also form part of smart city schemes
