Dear PM, fully appreciate your great I nitiative to clean INDIA. Indians were very clean conscious just few decades back, we taught hygiene, cleanliness for the whole world. But we achieved this in a different way. Our ancestors emphasised on control at source than at end user. We used bio degradable things that are disposed easily. Now with so much unwanted paper, plastics getting a heavily populated country to follow disposals is more difficult than stopping at source. It is also economical.

Sir, The following are the products of development which requires urgent control to minimise impact on people and environment: 1) waste from plastic products - Research to be initiated to find biodegradable material with popular advantages of plastic 2) Pesticide application on fruits & vegetables- ban poisonous ones and switch over to safe bio pesticides 3) Pollution from industries- Strict control, recycle & use water within industry, every large industry to adopt a wasteland and make it green

WE CONSUME FRUITS WITH MISTAKEN BELIEF THAT IT CONTAINS ONLY GOOD STUFF. BUT FRUITS R FULL OF CHEMICALS-FERTILIZERS, PESTICIDES, ARTIFICIAL RIPENERS etc. SO, IT IS NOT ALL GOOD STUFF. IN FACT, SOME ARE VERY BAD. MANGOES & WATERMELONS SOLD BY ROADSIDE VENDORS R PRIME EXAMPLES OF ARTIFICIALLY ENHANCED FRUITS. ALSO, SO-CALLED ORGANIC FRUITS HAVE TRACES OF CHEMICALS AS THEY R GROWN ON FARMS WITH LEACHED CHEMICALS FROM AGRI. WE CANNOT BE TOO CAREFUL BUT LET US NOT BE FOOLED BY PROMOTERS ALSO.

SOMEONE HAS SUGGESTED THAT INSTEAD OF COMPENSATORY AFFORESTATION FOR CUTTING DOWN FORESTS, THERE SHOULD BE COMPENSATORY DEVELOPMENT OF WASTELAND INTO AGRICULTURE LAND. THIS IS ALSO A GOOD SUGGESTION AS A COMPANY WOULD BE DEVELOPING A USELESS LAND TO A PRODUCTIVE LAND. HOWEVER, THE OBJECTIVE OF COMPENSATING ENVIRONMENT DEGRADATION WILL NOT BE SERVED. IT IS A GOOD THING BUT IT IS ALSO DANGEROUS. WE WILL NOT REGAIN LOST FORESTS SO THE IDEA IS NOT AS GOOD AS AFFORESTATION.

My landline phone of mtnl no 01122711771 And broadband service is out of order since last over ten days. So many complaints give no result. Is it the way for progress in the country. Will mtnl compensate for all these loss of time! AK Gupta 9810391819
